3065 - Fitzroy

Fitzroy is a cultural hub full of street art, live music, vintage clothing stores, fantastic restaurants, cafes, and bars. Located only 3kms from the CBD, but with such a different vibe you could be a world away.

Fitztory is a complex suburb. It has some of the most expensive housing in Melbourne (check out this three-bedroom church conversion for $5M), the average rent for a three-bedroom apartment/townhouse is $1,000 per week but is also home to one of Melbourne's largest public housing complexes.

Fitzroy has some of Melbourne's best street art. Wander down Napier Street, Smith Street, and Johnston Street to admire free public art. Melbourne Street Tours will take you to all the best spots for $75. A great way to get to see the latest art!

The Rose Street Artists' Market - is one spot you shouldn't miss. The Artists' market is open every Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 and allows you to shop directly from the artists with everything from jewellery, fashion and furniture on display.

Fitzroy has hundreds of options for eating and drinking. These are a few of our favourites:

Egg Lab, 122 Johnson Street -  Even the traditional scrambled eggs are a bit extra here - with caramelised onions and housemate chipotle. Our recent fave is the Potato Head - who doesn't love hash browns! Don't be intimidated by the sky-high service window!

Archie's All Day, 189 Gertrude Street - Serves up delicious food, you guessed it, all day! Our fave on the lunch menu is the Rockling Fillet Burger. Yum! Pair that with a Mimosa for a great start to your afternoon.

Nico's Sandwich Deli, 100 Kerr StreetNo visit to Fitzroy would be complete without a visit to Nico's. The tuna melt is delicious if you want a toasted sandwich, and the salt-crusted pork is a sure-fire winner for a fresh sandwich.

Cutler & Co, 55 Gertrude Street Melburnians are spoilt for choice when it comes to fine dining, and you should include Andrew McConnell's Cutler & Co on your list. With an ethos of "refined, simple, hospitable dining", you won't be disappointed.

Fitzroy's nightlife is vibrant, diverse, and plentiful. So much so that it deserves its own write-up to do it justice, stay tuned.
